On Saturday, 21 March 2026, the first parkour event in Croatia under the URBANLeap project was held at the Sport Hub Nedelišće, organised together with the Croatian Parkour Cup. 🎉

The event was extremely well attended: nearly 200 competitors took to the competition platforms, watched by more than 400 spectators — parents, coaches and parkour enthusiasts who filled the hall and created a fantastic sporting atmosphere. 🤸‍♂️

The opening ceremony was honoured by the Mayor of the City of Čakovec and the President of the Croatian Gymnastics Federation (HGS), reaffirming the growing importance of parkour as a developing sport discipline and the strong support of the local and national sport community for the URBANLeap project.

On this occasion we also promoted the URBANLeap project, which aims to bring parkour closer to the wider community and encourage its development as a safe and structured sports discipline. Alongside the competition, the event carried clear educational value — participants were able to see and experience the core principles the project promotes: safety, gradual progression, inclusivity, and a high-quality approach to training. 💪

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of the proper development of motor skills, coordination, and overall physical literacy in children and youth. The youngest and most successful athletes were awarded medals and trophies, and the smiles on the podium showed exactly why this sport keeps growing year after year.

This is the first in a series of planned events within the URBANLeap project, and we are delighted to be part of this story. Multiplier events in Italy and Bulgaria follow, through which we will continue to spread parkour across South-East Europe. 🙌✨

The URBANLeap project is co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ Sport programme.
