URBANLeap consortium gathers in Sofia to mark the completion of its parkour event series

SOFIA, BULGARIA — On 20 September 2026, the partners of the Erasmus+ Sport project URBANLeap met in Sofia for their 3rd transnational project meeting, hosted by Street Workout Bulgaria (SWB) at the Rakovski National Gymnastics Training Centre. The meeting was held alongside the Urban Leap Balkan Tournament in North Park — the project’s third and final parkour event — bringing the consortium together at a landmark moment.

The partners reviewed the project’s progress across all its work packages and confirmed that the three planned multiplier parkour events have now all been delivered: in Croatia (Nedelišće, March 2026), Italy (Sacile, within Xtreme Days Festival, May 2026) and Bulgaria (Sofia, September 2026). Together, the events engaged young athletes from across the region in safe, structured and inclusive competition, held outdoors in real urban settings.

A central milestone reviewed at the meeting was the project’s flagship result — the research-based Parkour Trainer Handbook — which has been completed, printed and distributed. During the European Championships in Artistic Gymnastics in Zagreb, the handbook was presented to Farid Gayibov, President of European Gymnastics, and to Michel Boutard, Vice-President of European Gymnastics and member of the FIG Parkour Commission, and was handed directly to parkour coaches at the Championships’ Parkour Hub.

The consortium also aligned on the final steps of the project: consolidating the documentation of the event series, stepping up dissemination across partners and media, and preparing the Final Report. The project’s closing meeting will take place in Zagreb in November 2026, where partners also intend to link the project with the Croatian national parkour championship.
